Here is what I did to download and install Apache Tomcat 7.0.32 on my Windows 7 local computer. Visit Apache Tomcat home page with a Web browser, and click the 'Download' link under the 'Tomcat 7.0.32 Released' section. You will see the 'Tomcat 7 Downloads' page. Click '32-bit Windows zip' link under 'Binary Distributions' section. Go back to the Apache Tomcat home page, and download the Windows Installer (either 32- or 64-bit as needed): Once the download is complete, click on Next. Then you’ll need to agree to the License Agreement.˄˅
Apache Tomcat is a mandatory component required to run the ESET PROTECT Web Console. Upgrade Apache Tomcat manually if the existing Apache Tomcat installation was performed manually or if you do not have the latest ESET PROTECT All-in-one installer.
If a custom version of Apache Tomcat is installed (manual installation of the Tomcat service), the subsequent ESET PROTECT Web Console upgrade via the All-in-one installer or via Components Upgrade Task is not supported.
1.Ensure that Java/OpenJDK is up to date. Apache Tomcat requires 64-bit Java/OpenJDK.
If you have multiple Java versions installed on your system, we recommend that you uninstall older Java versions and keep only the latest supported Java version.
Starting January 2019, Oracle JAVA SE 8 public updates for business, commercial or production use require a commercial license. If you do not purchase a JAVA SE subscription, you can transition to a no-cost alternative. See the supported versions of JDK.
2.Check to see which version of Apache Tomcat is currently available.
a.Navigate to the Apache Tomcat installation folder:
C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ]
b.Open the RELEASE-NOTES file in a text editor and check the version number (for example 7.0.90).
c.If a more recent supported version is available, perform an upgrade.
How to upgrade
1.Stop the Apache Tomcat service: Navigate to Start > Services > right-click the Apache Tomcat service and select Stop.
Close Tomcat7w.exe if it is running in your system tray.
2.Back up the following files:
C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ].keystore
C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ]confserver.xml
C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ]webappseraWEB-INFclassesskeseterag2webconsoleservermodulesconfigEraWebServerConfig.properties
If you are using a custom SSL certificate store in the Tomcat folder, also back up that certificate.
3.Uninstall the current version of Apache Tomcat.
4.Delete the following folder if it is still present on your system:
Install Tomcat On Windows 10
C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ]
5.Download the latest supported version of the Apache Tomcat installer file (32-bit/64-bit Windows Service Installer) apache-tomcat-[version].exe from https://tomcat.apache.org.
6.Install the newer version of Apache Tomcat that you downloaded:
•If more Java versions are installed, select the path to latest Java during the installation.
•When you are finished, deselect the check box next to Run Apache Tomcat.
7.Restore .keystore, server.xml, and custom certificates to their original location.
8.Open the server.xml file and make sure the keystoreFile path is correct (update the path if you upgraded to a higher major version of Apache Tomcat):
keystoreFile='C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ].keystore'
9.Make sure that HTTPS connection for Apache Tomcat for ESET PROTECT Web Console is set up properly.
10. Deploy the ESET PROTECT Web Console (Web Console installation - Windows).
11. Restore EraWebServerConfig.propertiesto its original location.
12. Run Apache Tomcat and set a correct Java VM:
a)Navigate to the folder C:Program FilesApache Software Foundation[Tomcat folder ]bin and run Tomcat9w.exe.

b)In the General tab set Startup Type to Automatic and press Start.
c)Click the Java tab, make sure Use default is deselected and Java Virtual Machine includes the path to jvm.dll file(see illustrated Knowledgebase instructions), and then click OK.
13.Connect to the ESET PROTECT Web Console and verify that the Web Console loads correctly.
See also the additional Web Console configuration for enterprise solutions or low-performance systems.
•If you are unsuccessful in setting up an HTTPS connection for Apache Tomcat, you can skip this step and use an HTTP connection temporarily.
•If the upgrade of Apache Tomcat fails, install your original version and apply the configuration from step 2.
•The Web Console and Apache Tomcat upgrade clears the Offline help files. If you used Offline help with ERA/ESMC or an older ESET PROTECT version, re-create it for ESET PROTECT 8.0 after upgrading. This ensures that you have the latest Offline help matching the version of your ESET PROTECT.

This article provides information about the installation and basic configuration of Apache Tomcat 7 on Windows.
Tomcat 8 Windows 64 Bit
The Java 1.7 JRE and the binary distribution of Tomcat 7 for Windows is available from the links below.

Install the Java 1.7 JRE as directed by the Web page linked above. You can use the default options for everything, but you may want to uncheck the installation of the browser toolbar.
Unzip the Tomcat 7 software into an appropriate location. In this case I unzipped it into the 'D:apache-tomcat-7.0.33' directory. This directory is known as the CATALINA_HOME.
Create a file called 'D:apache-tomcat-7.0.33binsetenv.bat' with the following contents, adjusted to your installation locations.
You can now start and stop Tomcat using the following scripts.
The default page is visible on port 8080, so on the server itself you can access it using this URL 'http://localhost:8080'.
Remember to unblock the port on the firewall if you want to access the site from other servers on the network.
Running Tomcat as a Service
Running Tomcat as a service is very simple. From the command prompt, change directory to the '%CATALINA_HOME%bin' directory and run the following command.
If you want you can set the environment variables before calling the command, but for a single installation of Tomcat, this is not necessary.
The service can now be started and stopped from the Service dialog, or the command line.
Enabling HTML Management Access
Edit the '%CATALINA_HOME%conftomcat-users.xml' file, adding a new role and user with admin privileges.
Restart Tomcat for the configuration to take effect.
The management application is now available from the 'http://localhost:8080/manager/html' URL.
The main locations of configuration and log information are shown below.
You can get a sample application WAR file to test with from 'http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/appdev/sample/'.
If this is a redeployment, delete the existing deployment from the '%CATALINA_HOME%webapps' directory. Place the 'sample.war' file in the '%CATALINA_HOME%webapps' directory and Tomcat with automatically deploy it. You will see a 'sample' directory appear.
